Joby played basketball for the city this year and loved it. He had a lot of fun running up and down the court. He shot a few baskets in practice, but always got a little too timid in the game. His coach was great! So patient and kind to teach them. Joby's already moved on the next sport--SOCCER!

Jillian Grace Olsen! Born September 16 at 10:17 am weighing in at 8 lb. 3 oz. and 21.5 in. long.

I'm a little embarrassed to put this picture on here, but after having natural birth (which was NOT planned) in only 20 minutes after arriving at the hospital, I'm come to terms with this picture. This was taken a few seconds after she was born. I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience.

Jerni is becoming quite the big girl. She is now potty trained. She, also, has one of the coolest personalities. She is so funny and fun to be around, but be careful, she can and will turn on you in a flash. We love her so much and are so proud to have her in our growing family.

For Joby's birthday, we went to Marbles Museum in Raleigh and then for his dinner of choice, we went to Pei Wei. Marbles Museum is a kids museum, where everything is hands on. There's a post office to put away mail and packages, a grocery store with food and shopping carts, a huge train table, dress-up, build your own cars and race them against other kids, etc.

This year for Memorial weekend, we headed up to Roanoke, VA for Olsen Olympics. We had opening ceremonies with Jerni bringing in the torch (no picture available).

Each family had a flag and a team color. Our team color was light blue.

The kids and I went to the Asheboro Zoo the other day. It's only about 45 minutes from our house. It's huge! They have two sides-North America and Africa. We only made to the North America side before it was time to go home. We had a great time and bought a family pass to go again soon, before it gets too hot. They have lots of playgrounds throughout and a free tram to take you to and from the different sides.
We saw lots of animals; our favorites were:

The polar bear. He never did move, but I thought the sign was pretty funny.

I gave Justin an OU license plate for his car and socks. I got a griddle that I bought myself the day after Thanksgiving. Merry Christmas!

Pre-K Christmas Party

Joby's last day of Pre-K was his Christmas Party. We (homeroom Mom's) decided to do Polar Express theme. The kids got to wear their pajamas, just like in the movie. Mrs. Zerby had the class walk down to the library were someone built a train for the kids to take pictures in front of. She gave the kids a golden ticket and punched it on the way in to class to watch the hot chocolate scene from the movie. We had pizza bites, juice boxes, and the kids got to decorate rice krispy treats.

I am so blessed to have such great friends here in OK; the best!! I never thought I would feel like OK was home, but now that I do, it's time for us to move. FINALLY!! Justin graduated from his residency in orthodontics from OU on Friday. There are 4 in his class and we had a lovely ceremony and dinner at the Petroleum Club. The city does a great Downtown in December with all kinds of cool things. Friday night was the kick off with the tree lighting ceremony. They had carolers, dancers, and hot chocolate. When the dancers came on, Jerni kept yelling, "Barbie!" We had recently watched Barbie's Nutcracker. Anyways, it was lots of fun. The kids were so excited they just couldn't hide it!

She's so excited because she has a cup full of M&M's.

He's so excited because he got a baseball card signed by Rowdy the Redhawk.

Another great thing about Downtown in December are the free canal rides. We were pleasantly surprised at how long the ride was. The kids both fell quickly asleep as soon as we got in the car. What a great Thanksgiving break!

Orthodontics vs. Oral Surgery Turkey Bowl

This year for the Turkey Bowl, it was Ortho vs. Oral Surgery. Oral Surgery won, but I think the real winner was everyone for not getting hurt. Us wives depend on our husbands hands to make a living.

First Field Trip

Joby's first field trip this year for Pre-K was the Train Trolley Tour of El Reno. The trolley broke the day before our field trip so we rode our bus everywhere. We did a hay maze, decorated pumpkins, had lunch in a red barn, toured the El Reno Fire Station, and shot water from a fire hose. Joby had lots of firsts that day:

The kids and I went to Day Out with Thomas at the Oklahoma Railway Museum on Friday. It was beautiful weather to be outside.

On Friday, Joby brought home Charlie the Cheetah from school for the weekend. The teacher sends Charlie home with someone that has made good choices all week. Charlie quickly became a member of our family. He had some popcorn with us at snack time, went to Joby's favorite restaurant-Pei Wei, went to Aiden's birthday party, slept with Joby, and was loved by Joby and Jerni (translation-beaten, flipped, thrown, jumped on...) Joby was very excited because this was the first time Charlie started making his rounds with the kids at their homes. Justin liked it because he knew there were no one else's germs on Charlie. Joby and I scrapbooked a page for Charlie's notebook, last night of all the fun things they did together over the weekend.

Christmas Carol Train Tour

On Friday night, we went to the Christmas Carol Train Tour downtown with the Brewer family. The kids had lots of fun going in the train cars to see how the movie was made. It was super hot outside while waiting to get a 3-D glimpse of Jim Carrey's movie-A Christmas Carol, coming out in November. Joby got so scared when we went to see the 3-D preview, I had to walk out with him. Then, Jerni got upset because I left, so Justin followed behind Joby and myself with Jerni. All in all, it was a lot of fun.

Today was Joby's first day of Pre-K! He goes Monday-Friday from 8:30-11:00 and he is in Mrs. Zerby's class with 15 boys and 5 girls. Justin and I can't believe that we have a child in school; it's crazy!!

Edmond Historical Society Museum

Last week, we went to this great museum in Edmond. It's called the Edmond Historical Society Museum. In my mind it doesn't scream--WELCOME KIDS! But it was great. It's a western theme with a country store, a jail, dress-up, a train table, and much more.

Joby has preschool every Tuesday and the times that it's at my house, Lexie takes Jerni, so I can teach. This is her waiting patiently for Lexie and Aiden to pick her up and to get dressed.

Twilight Party

On Friday night, I hosted a Twilight Party at my house. I'm a big fan (some say obsessed, I say fan) of Stephenie Meyer's books, so I thought what better way to celebrate Girls Night Out, than with a Twilight Party! I went all out for this party. It was sooooooo much fun!

I sent out these great invitations I found on Etsy.

I decorated our house black, white, and red with Twilight pictures and quotes all over. Justin came home and asked why our engagement picture had been taken down. I said, "It's all for the love of Twilight." We normally have a picture of Jesus Christ on a side table and it was replaced with Bella and Edward. Justin said, "What is Jesus not good enough for Twilight?"

After a delicious dinner, we played games. Twilight Bingo with Christine winning, Unscramble Words with Becca winning, and Trivia/Quotes with Lexie winning.

Irresistible Apple hand soap from Bath and Body Works, Rosalie and Edward's cars, and Twilight magnets.

We had a great time watching Twilight and I'm so glad everyone was able to come. The girls went home with a goody bag (sorry no picture) of different items to represent the book series (ie: Fudge Marble cake mix-Edward's skin, gummi bears-Emmett's favorite animal to hunt, Goldfish crackers-Charlie's always fishing, Moon Pie-New Moon, etc.) See you November 20, 2009 for New Moon!

OKC Auto Show

Justin took Joby to the OKC Auto Show a couple of days ago. I'm not sure who was more excited to go. Joby was a little confused about what he was going to see. He remembers in great detail going to Incredible Pizza and riding in the race cars with Justin. That's what he thought he was going to do. Once they got there, they had lots of fun getting in and out of all the cars.

Joby is now officially potty trained. Yes, ladies and gentleman he is 3 years old and in underwear. The sticker chart was the best thing for him and of course, when he was ready. He is now a big boy. We are so proud of him!

Queen of the Castle

We finally bought the kids an outdoor toy. It's a castle climb and slide. We've had it inside the past few days because it's been too cold outside. This is Jerni these days with her purses.

Happy Valentine's Day

As I was putting Joby to bed the night before Valentine's Day, I told him that since he had been such a good boy 'Cupid' would leave him a present in the morning. He quickly became very concerned about the tree not being up and that our stockings weren't hung on the fireplace. I calmed his fears and said 'Cupid' doesn't like trees and that he just puts the present on the kitchen table. He doesn't need a fireplace because he walks in the front door. That sufficed him. So, on Valentine's Day morning the first thing he asked me was if 'Cupid' had come and I told him we'd better go see. He bolts out of his room to look on the couch and was sad that there was nothing there. He slowly walks to the table and his eyes got big with excitement at the presents. We had a great day, but were saddened not to have Justin with us. He was away in New Orleans for school/vacation.

The Bethany Library does a great Winter Story Time every other Thursday for Joby's age. Lots of greats stories, songs, and a cool craft at the end. This past Thursday was all about Valentine's Day. Here are some pictures, thanks to Lexie.
