Merry Christmas!

Merry Chrismas from the Olsen's of Oklahoma!

Oh, no! I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus.

Welcome Jerni Claire Olsen!

Our little girl was born on December 3, 2007 at 9:51 pm. She weighed 6 lbs. 11 0z. and was 19 1/2 in. long. We decided to go with a family middle name, after Justin's grandfather. His name was Clair, but we added an 'e'. She is a great addition to our family. Joby is slowly warming up to her. He likes to rub her head and let you know when she's crying. We look forward to showing her off to everyone over Christmas.

Thanksgiving

This is our first year not having Thanksgiving twice! In a way, that is a relief for our bellies, but not for our hearts. We really missed spending time with both families. The old saying, "Distance makes the heart grow fonder" really is true. We spent the morning just hanging out watching some of the Macy's Day Parade and watching football. Then after Joby's nap we went to Spencer and Lexie's house for Thanksgiving dinner with the Hendrick's. We had a great time together visiting and eating lots and lots of yummy food. The kids played well together and the boys watched more football.

What a cute family!

I'm alive!!

Just to let everyone know, yes, I am alive and doing well. Here's proof!

Friday night at the Farm

Last night (Friday), we went to the Orr Family Farm in Oklahoma City. It has a train, tractor hayrides to a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo, a playground, a carousel, and big tricycle bike things. We went with the Paventy's (Justin is in school with Tony) and had a great time. Joby really loved the train ride. He followed it everywhere it went; no matter what we were doing. He is obsessed with trains right now. At the end of the night, we took our hayride out to the pumpkin patch and each choose our perfect pumpkin. Joby choose his by picking them up and see which one went the furthest.

Growing up TOO quickly

Joby was playing around in our bed after his nap this afternoon. It reminded me of another picture we have of Joby.

This is Joby about 5 months old laying in our bed. There must be something comforting to him about our bed.

Trunk-Or-Treat

Last night our church held a Halloween night for the kids. There were lots of games with prizes, a pie contest, and trunk-or-treat at the end. Joby went as a doctor. He's not much for costumes, so we had to find something that had no hat and no extra parts. He put the scrubs on and kept repeating, "Papa's." So, he knows Justin wears these everyday to school. Joby really enjoyed Bean Bag toss into the pumpkins. I think he played it about 5 times, but not for prizes. He didn't seem to care about them. I made a Swirled Peanut Butter Chip Pie. They decided not to make it a contest after all because there were so few pies. (FYI-Mine would have won!) All the kids left the gym to go outside to the cars and go from trunk to trunk to get candy, but Joby stayed inside and played with his little friends. He had more fun running around in circles with Jackson and Emma than anything else.

Ears lowered

Joby got a haircut! It may not seem like much to some people, but having his hair cut is a big deal to Justin. I took him to a kid's haircut place. They had tv, games, and lots of cool gadgets everywhere. It was a little pricey for a 2 year old, but worth my sanity to not have to pin him down and trim only his bangs. He did really well for the hairdresser and only whimpered when she spritzed water on his head. Joby got a sucker and a little bottle of bubbles for being so good. He is a handsome little devil (like his papa)!

This is only a test

We were sitting outside enjoying the nice fall weather, when Joby decided to roll one of Justin's drill bit down into the storm shelter. So, Justin pulled the top back and went down to get it; his shadow followed behind, of course. Joby played in it for about 20 minutes. Looking up every once and while to make sure we were still sitting there. Justin went down to show how big it is while looking at the Pottery Barn catalog. The storm shelter has 3 steps going down into it and two benches along the walls with small storage for emergency items. Joby was very upset when he had to get out and Justin pulled the top over.

What a storm

This afternoon we had quite the storm. In about 10 minutes it went from sunny to rain to hail to a rainbow to sunny. It was really strange. Here's a shot of the rainbow out our front door a little to the left.

Pumpkin Patch

A bunch of us mom's took our little one's to a pumpkin patch today--Chester's Party Barn. They got to ride horses, feed the goats, go for a hayride, and take home a small pumpkin. We feed the goats first, which Joby loved having them chase him up and down the fence with the feed cup in his hand. He finally gave in and feed them. He laughed and laughed as the goats devoured the feed. Then, we rode the horses. Joby actually did it. I was a little hesitant standing in line because he is usually a looker and not much of a doer. He had a blast! We had lunch and then went for a hayride. All the kids had fun bouncing up and down through the farmland. We sang songs and enjoyed the scenery. We got home around 1:00 and Joby went to bed with no fuss and only 1 book read to him. The nap was cut short because of all the housing construction right at his bedroom window for the house next door. So, he's snoozing away early tonight.

Joby's looking for the perfect pumpkin to take home. He has his own methods for choosing a good pumpkin. Can it withstand my weight?

Fall Break in Dallas

This past weekend we went on our first family vacation. We went to Dallas, TX. I know it sounds so amazing. Justin didn't have school on Friday, so we thought we'd see some sights in Texas. It's only 2.5 hours away. We did some shopping, but didn't find anything we were looking for. We went to the Texas State Fair and had lots of fun with different petting zoos and a car show. Justin and Joby got in every car possible. I stayed true to only my Lexus SC 430. OU won against Texas. We came home on Sunday late afternoon. It's always fun to travel, but more fun coming home.

Joby enjoying the hotel room and his new toys from IKEA.

Life is always better after a nap and a little snack with Papa.

I'm not sure what to say here.

Yes, he tried to get in.

Blocks of love

THANKS MOM!! This wonderful surprise showed up on our doorstep tonight. Mom wrote in the note that she had made this at an Enrichment one night. You turn the blocks over and find words for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I love to decorate for the holidays. This will be a great addition to my Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations. Thanks for thinking of us and we miss you guys.

Have a seat

This is our new chair for Jut's study. He decided to paint the room on Saturday after finding the pillow at Kohl's a couple of weeks ago. I love the color. The chair we got at Pier 1 on Saturday after looking at it for a couple of weeks also. Justin doesn't move fast when it comes to decorating. Anyway, the room looks great and now we're just looking for a cabinet kind of thing to house all of his dental/ortho junk.

Mom My Ride

This video sent to me from John and Jenny and I thought it was so funny I had to put it on our blog. Justin always teases me about coming home with a 1980 Ford Astro someday. I don't think so!

Chillin' Before Bed

Joby was enjoying a little Curious George movie before going to bed and looked too cute to pass up a picture moment. We sure enjoy Joby's company and addition to our family. He is getting so big!

Eating Grapes

I was making cookies last night (Sunday) and Joby was going through my baking cabinet and found these funnels. We were just finishing up dinner and he decided to eat his grapes one at a time on the funnel tip. He ate about 20-30 grapes like this. He was in no hurry to go anywhere or do anything else.

Fun in the Sun

I bought this kiddie pool on sale for Joby at Target. We had some friends (Tony, Angie, Luciana, and Pierce) over on Saturday to watch the BYU vs. Arizona game. Justin goes to school with Tony. Joby and Luciana had a blast in this kiddie pool. As Justin and I were blowing it up, I thought it was going to be the biggest disappointment for them, but they didn't seem to care how big it was. On the box, it shows several little kids enjoying the water activities. It barely fit the 3 kids! They stayed in it for about 30 minutes. Once we got them out their skin was quite chilly and wrinkly, but again they didn't seem to care. GO BYU!!

Luciana had fun decorating the palm tree with the star fish.

Joby liked going down the fish slide into the cold water.

Is he not the cutest little Joby you've ever seen?

Jumpin' Joby

Last night, Tuesday, we went to an indoor play park, Jump Zone. Joby's friend, Jackson, was having his 3rd birthday. We had a great time on all the inflatables. There were lots of big inflatables for the older kids and a couple of little ones for the younger kids. Joby stayed mainly on one inflatable, but he did like to go down the big slide on Justin's lap. I went down it and I couldn't believe how fast it was for an inflatable slide for kids. Happy Birthday, Jackson and thanks for inviting us.

Joby loves to say, "Cheese" now to the camera.

Of course, when Jump Zone is about to close, that's when Joby decides he likes it and doesn't want to leave.

I'm not sure who had more fun, Justin or Joby?!

OU Orthodontic Graduation 2007

On Friday night the OU Orthodontic class of 2007 graduated. Justin has only been in school for about 2 months, but has come to know the 3rd years very well. Too many late nights and long days together. We had a great time (after sitting in traffic for about an hour. And I do mean sitting.) with the residents and faculty. I couldn't help but feel a lot of jealousy for the graduating class, wishing it were Justin. Our time will come to graduate and start another new adventure. Good luck!

Waterfront Property

We had a terrible storm in the early hours of Sunday morning. As a result, we now have waterfront property; which wouldn't be so bad, if we were supposed to have a lake in front of our house. There is still a lot of water across the street and all over town. Several country roads are closed. The tornado siren went off twice. Rain was coming every which way but down. We lost power 3-4 times. Justin and I got everything ready to go down into our storm shelter in the garage, but the storm let up a little bit and we just huddled in our hallway with Joby asleep on some blankets. He slept through the whole thing and woke for business as usual about 7:30. Justin and I had fallen asleep about 4:45. We survived and only have two water spots in the ceiling to show for it.

Happy Birthday, Justin!

Today, August 18, is Justin's 31st birthday. He started the day off after sleeping in a bit, then eggs benedict for breakfast (his favorite). We ran some errands around town, then had an early dinner at Old Chicago (a great pizza joint in Edmond). Before Justin went to see Transformers, we sang "Happy Birthday" to him with a chocolate chip cookie cake. Joby loved blowing out the candle. Justin got a money clip and a emergency radio from his parents, candy and a card from Joby, lots of phone calls and cards from family, and a new tv to watch the Panthers play from Jenn.

And the winner is...

Olsen #2 is a girl! We are very excited to add a little girl to our family in December. Definately excited and definately nervous. This is the best picture we could get of her. Jenn was wrong about the sex with this one and with Joby. You would think since, she's carry them that she might have a little divine knowledge. NO! That was given to Justin. He has been right both times.

A cool treat

Joby and I went to the OKC Zoo again today. We rode the trains, basically the whole 2 hours. After lunch, Joby had a popsicle. It was a blue raspberry mini-popsicle. It took him several minutes to eat his. Mine was gone in two bites. He really liked it until it started to drip down his hand, but of course, he managed to eat the whole thing and wanted another.

Happy 2nd Birthday, JOBY!

Joby turned two on July 20. Justin was able to get away from school at a reasonable hour (4:00), so we went to a community pool in Edmond (about 20 minutes from our house). This pool has slides, rock climbing wall in the water, kiddie area, sprinklers, and lots of people. Joby was slow to warm up to the water, but mostly enjoyed jumping in to catch a water fish. The picture is of Joby and Justin having a snack, while I change my clothes to go eat dinner.

Before we left NC, we had a party for Joby with our parents. My mom, Kim, made the baseball cake, which Joby didn't eat, but was very delicious. Thanks, Mom! He was very excited to see his Thomas the Train backpack filled with lots of goodies, like cars, books, and snacks. Thank you, Gammie! It came in very handy on the plane ride out. Grandma & Grandpa Olsen gave Joby some books and his first puzzle, which also came in very handy on the plane ride out. Thank you, Grandma & Grandpa!
